A ceremony to mark the founding of the new town of Tornagrain took place on 27.08.15 with 3 standing stone unveiled by the Provost of Inverness, Cllr Helen Carmichael following an address from Fergus Ewing, MSP Minister for Business, Energy and Tourism.
Lord Moray said “standing stones have been part of the landscape for many centuries in Scotland, particularly in the North. We thought this would be an appropriate way to mark the start of what is very much a new community, but one which builds upon the best traditions of design from communities in the past.”
Global Infrastructure, based in Muir of Ord, have been appointed to deliver the infrastructure for Phase 1. The works will take place over the next 52 weeks and will enable housebuilders to be on site in Spring 2016, about halfway through the works. Gas, electricity, water and foul drainage assets will be upgraded as part of the works.
Zero C and A & J Stephen have been announced as the two housebuilders who will commence works on site in Spring 2016. Both are well respected housebuilders with experience in the delivery of traditional urbanism and high quality homes.
